Welcome VISITORS and FRIENDS

Greetings to anyone visiting my blog for the FIRST TIME as well as my regular readers which include family and FRIENDS. Sure would like to have your comments and feedback on my efforts. (Click on the comments link for instructions on how to get registered with Google if you aren't already.) I plan to continue providing tips on doing FAMILY HISTORY RESEARCH occasionally but will return to my former FOCUS of including everyday happenings, poetry and personal views. Hope you'll bookmark my blog and become a regular reader who comments.

Well, the FAMILY HISTORY EXPO of the past weekend is now a memory and I have new goals and adventures in mind for the future. I'm reading Julia Cameron's book on The Writing Diet: Write Yourself Right-Size. Great ideas...and I am loosing weight about 1 pound a week. Slow and steady. The principles she writes about are so cool. I love the idea of making a TA DAH! list at the end of the day of things you have accomplished that day. It's more motivational than a TO DO list-(although I still use that too). Try writing down your accomplishments daily and you'll be amazed.

  1. I just recommended your site to a Chattanooga blogger who is researching her family's genealogy. I hope she visits.

Sounds like you're losing weight the right way...slow and steady.

  2. Lin, It's funny that you should mention the Ta Da list. I just happened upon it for the first time in another blogger's posting (can't recall who now)... and now you mention where it comes from.

Good! Because I love TA DA... it really does feel more motivational and inspiring than the heavier TO DO list.

BTW, I went looking for that Julia book, and so far, Chapters here didn't carry it. I was not impressed! I'll keep looking as you seem to be finding lots of great nuggets!

Looking forwarding to lots of visits, I enjoy your site, Lin!

  7. A pound a week is wonderful. I'm not being as successful. Perhaps I need to try harder.
While I haven't tried a Tah da list, I do tend to take stock every day of what I've accomplished. I certainly have been busy enough lately.

  8. I just got finished reading about the healthiest way to lose weight...slowly about 1 or 2 pounds a week. I need to find out more about that ta da list. I go to bed feeling like I haven't accomplished enough.

You are such a busy lady, yet you manage to stop by and say hey on my blog, thanks Lin, you're a sweety!

  9. I read (and am commenting on) Lin's blog today... TA DA!!
Were you wondering if I'd fallen off the planet?

Wayne's just come up with so many things for me to do, been spending time with the kids, and work has me totally slammed. A couple of sales... and a lot of listings. I've been preparing for my next lesson. How are you supposed to teach a topic you no almost nothing about? So, first, I'm studying and learning my subject matter. I've also been asked to help a friend of mind write a great story about a moving event in his life in book form. That's turned out to be biting off more than I have an appetite for. As a consequence of all of the above, most of my computer time has been put on the back burner.

Julia Cameron has always been a pretty good read. My time is pretty limited right now... so I don't think I'm going to be able to manage writing myself the right size... although the idea does intrigue me. Sounds like it's doing the trick for you. sigh... maybe I'll hop on the bus when things slow down again. They will, I'm sure. I am saving some time for strolling around the Hollow letting my feet and my mind wander wherever they take me, having a few visits with friends and neighbors, and puttering in the yard.

I first heard of a "Ta Da" list several years ago in a Zenger Miller motivational class my mentor was teaching. I taught it myself when I began teaching the classes with her. I loved it then. I love it now! Isn't it funny how you tuck good ideas like those away and when someone brings them to your attention again... It's like they're brand new. Just as valuable to you. I'm so excited to begin making my Ta Da lists again. Zenger Miller has a whole section of their master program for "fly by the seat of your pants" type personalities. It flips spontaniety and turns it into a fabulous, positive, productive lifestyle.

I'll be looking forward to hearing all of the fun stuff you've been saving up and wanting to talk to us about this past month. But, I will miss your great family history ideas, so I'm glad you've decided to continue to share them with us now and then.

Thanks for another involving, inventive post.
