Irish Ancestors?

The closest I can get is Elizabeth Durrah Wilkins who was born in Scotland...but her parents lived in Ireland at times depending on economic conditions. I always have felt a leaning toward celtic music and Irish dancing so Ireland must be in my blood or DNA somewhere. Happy St. Patrick's Day! Don't forget to wear green today. Tell us about your Irish ancestors...if you have some.

  2. I wish I had Irish ancestors. I'd love to be Irish. Maybe, if I look real hard I'll find a connection. I am wearing green today... although it's a bright lime green. Does that count?

We had a colleague from another Real Estate brokerage come into the office today... She was dressed stem to stern in varied shades of green with a deep hunter green hat covered in kelly green, purple and gold sparkleys. She was dripping with beaded necklaces in those same three colors that reached from her clavicle to her belly button. Holy Cow! The sun just bounced off of her. I grabbed her by the arm and we went off to go on a home tour of ten different homes that are for sale in the area. When we hit the car, she placed some shamrock shaped sunglasses on her cute face. It was such fun to run a wee bit wild through the streets of our small town with this little leprechan. Her outfit just seemed to encourage the giggles to come.

I'm usually the one who's dressed in some silly costume. It was nice to play the straight man for a change. well... not TOO straight, mind you.

  3. Three of my four grandparents were born in Ireland, and in 2001 many of my family members went to Ireland for a week. It was very informative; quite a different aura than the USA.

  4. My son's significant other is Irish as is my sister-in-law. We have quite a number of Irish friends... maybe because Chicago is known for having a large Irish population.

Have a great St. Patrick's Day, Lin!

  6. Happy St. Patrick's Day, Lin! I swear there is something about the Irish love of conversation and real interaction that claims my heart just a great big bit. Was the best part of being there.

  7. The Irish blood is strong. John Steinbeck said: “I am half- Irish, the rest of my blood being watered down with German and Massachusetts English. But Irish blood doesn’t water down very well; the strain must be very strong.”

  8. My relatives on my father's side of the family all came from Ireland, so I've always felt a connection. Wore my green today, too!
